Google Pay: What is Google Pay's Pocket Money feature? Learn how to set it up on your phone...
Google Pay Pocket Money Feature: If you use Google Pay, this news could be highly important for you. Google Pay has launched a new feature called 'Pocket Money.' This feature allows users to assist their friends or family members in making payments via UPI. A key highlight is that the recipient does not necessarily need to have their own bank account to utilize this service. In this context, let's explore how you can use this feature and for whom it proves most beneficial...
What is the Pocket Money Feature?
The Pocket Money feature operates under the 'UPI Circle' framework. If you are already an active UPI user on Google Pay, you are designated as the 'Primary User.' You can add family members, friends, or employees to your UPI Circle. These individuals are referred to as 'Secondary Users.' A Secondary User can make payments using the Primary User's bank account. This makes the process of making digital payments even more convenient. This feature is particularly useful for providing pocket money to children, assisting a family member, or making payments to employees.
How Does the Pocket Money Feature Work?
To become a Primary User, you must have an active bank account linked to your Google Pay account.
You can add a maximum of 5 Secondary Users.
To add a Secondary User to your UPI Circle, please ensure the following conditions are met:
The Secondary User's mobile number must be saved in your phone's contact list.
The Google Pay app must be registered on their mobile number.
They must possess a UPI ID or a UPI Circle QR code.
How to Set Up the Pocket Money Feature on Your Phone?
Open the Google Pay app and navigate to 'UPI Circle.'
Search for the Secondary User's name or mobile number and select them.
Scan the selected Secondary User's UPI Circle QR code and configure the approval settings.
You will now see two options on your screen: 'Approve every payment' or 'Set a monthly limit.'
If you choose 'Set a monthly limit,' enter your desired monthly spending limit.
Next, fill in the additional details regarding the Secondary User.
Select the bank account you wish to link for them and click 'Invite.' To send an invite, you will need to enter your UPI PIN.
Once done, the Pocket Money feature will be set up, and the Secondary User will be able to make payments in accordance with the defined rules.
