Google has introduced several new features to "Ask Maps." The company describes this as one of the most significant updates to Google Maps in over a decade. "Ask Maps" was initially launched in March, powered by Gemini, and has now become even more useful.

**Ask questions in Hindi**
"Ask Maps" now supports Hindi. This means users can ask questions in a conversational manner in Hindi instead of English. Through this, users can obtain information about locations, directions, places to visit, and other recommendations in Hindi.

**Get more personalized information from Gmail**
Google has added a "Personal Intelligence" feature to "Ask Maps." Users can link their Gmail accounts to Maps to enable this. Once linked, Maps can provide better suggestions based on details like hotel bookings, flight information, and restaurant reservations.

For instance, if your flight is scheduled for a few hours later, "Ask Maps" can suggest nearby places to visit. Similarly, if you have a hotel booking, it can recommend nearby sightseeing spots or restaurants. Note that the Gmail integration is disabled by default; users must manually enable it to use the feature.

**Ask Maps will now remember past conversations**
Google has also introduced a "Conversation Memory" feature to "Ask Maps." If your history settings are enabled, the feature can recall previous interactions. This is beneficial because if you had previously planned a trip, you won't need to explain everything from scratch; you can simply ask follow-up questions about earlier suggestions or places to visit.

**Live bus, metro, and train updates in India**
A standout update for users in India is the inclusion of live public transit information. "Ask Maps" will now provide real-time data regarding buses, metros, and trains. This includes details such as live schedules, delays, route changes, and connecting transport options. This will help users plan their journeys more effectively and reduce the need for multiple separate searches to gather information.

Some features currently limited to the US.
According to Google, Live Transit, Personal Intelligence, and Conversation Memory are being rolled out wherever Ask Maps is available, including India. However, certain new AI features—such as food ordering, hotel searching, and event recommendations—are currently limited to the US.
