Google Maps AQI: Now the condition of the air of the country and the world is in your palm, Google Maps will tell the Air Quality Index..
If you're planning a trip or want to go out for a walk, workout, or a day out, you can now check the air quality (Air Quality Index) of any location on Google Maps. This feature tells you whether the air in the area you're visiting is clean or polluted.
Why is it important to check air quality?
Pollution levels increase in many cities during the winter season. Going out without information can be detrimental to health. Google has launched the AQI feature to address this issue. Now, you can check the real-time air quality of any location on your mobile or computer. This will help you decide in advance whether it's safe to go outside.
How to check air quality on Google Maps?
First, install the latest version of Google Maps on your Android or iPhone. The AQI feature is now available on both Android and iPhone platforms. Open Google Maps and enter the name of the place you want to visit. For example, Delhi, Shimla, Lonavala, or your current location. Once the map opens, tap the four-square icon (layer icon) at the bottom right of the screen. You'll find the "Air Quality" option here; select it. AQI data for different areas will now appear on the map. Tap any area or pin. You'll see the area's AQI score, pollutant type (e.g., PM 2.5, PM 10), and health advisory.
What does the AQI color scale mean?
Air quality is represented by color codes on Google Maps.
AQI Range Color Meaning
0–50 Green: Air is good, safe for health
51–100 Yellow: Air is fine
101–200 Orange: Mild effect for sensitive people
201–300 Red: Long-term exposure is harmful
301–400 Dark Red: Health Warning Level

Air quality across the country and the world at your fingertips
Google Maps updates data hourly. This feature is global, meaning you can also view the air quality in Delhi, Mumbai, London, or New York.
How will it help?
Now you can easily decide whether it's appropriate to postpone your travel time due to pollution. You can also decide before going out whether you need to wear a mask and whether you should go jogging or work out outdoors.
