If you or an elderly family member needs to get an Aadhaar card made or updated but visiting an Aadhaar center is difficult, there is no need to worry. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched the 'Aadhaar Home Enrolment Service' for this purpose.

Under this service, an operator will visit your home directly to complete the process of creating a new Aadhaar card or making updates to an existing one. Let us understand what this service entails, who can benefit from it, and the associated fees.

What is UIDAI’s Home Enrolment Service?
This is a special doorstep service launched by UIDAI to provide relief to those in need:

You can get a new Aadhaar card made from the comfort of your home.
You can update details such as name, address, or date of birth.
If required, fingerprint and iris scans can also be updated at home.

Who can avail of this service?
This service is not available to everyone. UIDAI has designed it specifically for citizens who are physically unable to visit an Aadhaar center:

Senior Citizens: Elderly individuals with limited mobility.
Patients: Bedridden individuals or those extremely weak due to illness.
Persons with Disabilities: Individuals unable to visit a center due to physical disabilities.

What are the service charges?
As this is a special doorstep service, a fixed service charge applies:

For the primary individual: If you call an operator for a single person at a specific address, the service charge is ₹700.

For additional members: If other family members at the same address wish to use the service, a fee of ₹350 applies for each additional member.
Important Note: This charge covers the operator's home visit only. You will still need to pay the standard government fees for Aadhaar updates (i.e., ₹50 or ₹100) in addition to this amount.

How to book the Aadhaar Home Service? If you wish to avail of this service for someone in need, you can apply in the following two ways:

Toll-free call: You can directly call the UIDAI helpline number, 1947, and request that an operator visit the home.

Via email: You can also submit your request by emailing the UIDAI regional office along with the necessary documents.

How long will it take?
Once your request is approved by the regional office, the task is assigned to your nearest registrar or Aadhaar center. Subsequently, an operator will visit the provided address and complete the entire process within 7 to 15 days.
