Get access to WhatsApp's upcoming features even before their official release! You'll just need to enable this option.
WhatsApp has started a new experiment to provide beta feature access to a wider range of users. Until now, WhatsApp's beta program was only open to a limited number of users, and the slots on the Google Play Store were often full. With this new update, WhatsApp is giving early access to beta features to some users who are not officially enrolled in the beta program.
According to a WABetaInfo report, this new change has been observed in WhatsApp's Android version 2.26.2.11, which is available on the Google Play Store. After this update, some users are getting the option to use beta features within the app itself. The aim is to give more people the opportunity to test new features and expand the beta testing base.
Under the new system, if a user receives this feature, they can find an option called "Early access to features" in WhatsApp's Settings. Turning on this toggle will give the user access to some features that haven't yet been rolled out in the official stable version. The good news is that if the user later decides they don't want to use the beta features, they can easily opt out by turning off the same option.
However, this new feature is not yet available to everyone. The report states that the rollout is limited, and only some non-beta users, along with some existing beta testers, are seeing this option. Additionally, some users are experiencing difficulties activating it. In these cases, the toggle is automatically turning off immediately after being switched on, which is considered a bug.
The risks associated with the beta program also remain with this new change. While WhatsApp quickly fixes major bugs in the beta version, it can take time for the update to be approved on the Google Play Store. This can sometimes delay users from receiving necessary fixes, potentially impacting their daily communication.
