Downdetector, a site that tracks outages, saw a sudden surge in complaints, making it clear that Facebook had stopped working for a large number of people simultaneously.

According to complaints on Downdetector, users faced difficulties logging in; feeds failed to load, pages would not refresh, and there were issues opening the website. Some reported encountering errors immediately upon opening the app, while others mentioned receiving error messages during launch.

**Surge of Complaints on Downdetector**
According to Downdetector, thousands of users reported that Facebook was down. Since the website collects complaints directly from users, the actual number of affected individuals could be significantly higher than the figures displayed on the screen.

When Facebook stopped working, people turned to other social media platforms to check if others were experiencing the same issue. Many users shared screenshots showing blank screens and loading errors.

**Issues with Instagram Too**
In India, over 1,200 users initially reported disruptions on Instagram, and the number of complaints continued to rise as the problem persisted. Downdetector data indicated that many users were unable to use the app, refresh their timelines, or upload posts and stories.

It appears that the issue was widespread beyond India as well; in the United States, more than 4,200 users reported problems with Instagram. 

Meta has not yet issued a clarification.
