Fake Smartphones: Don't make the "Karol Bagh" mistake when buying a phone; learn some foolproof ways to identify fake smartphones..
A major racket involved in manufacturing and selling counterfeit smartphones has been busted in Delhi's Karol Bagh area. This area is quite famous for electronics shopping, and this incident has raised concerns among customers. Police raided a shop and apprehended individuals who were assembling mobile phones inside.
According to reports, the accused were manufacturing counterfeit units of expensive Samsung smartphone models like the Galaxy Ultra, Flip, and Fold. They were importing phone parts from China and assembling them with fake IMEI numbers. The finished phones were then sold to customers as genuine.
Incomplete Phones Found at the Shop
The police have arrested four people in connection with this case so far. During the raid, partially assembled phones, batteries, displays, motherboards, and other mobile parts were recovered from the shop. This clearly indicates that the phones were being assembled on-site. It is reported that the accused were selling these smartphones for Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 40,000, while the actual price of these phones is Rs. 1 lakh or more. They were luring customers with the promise of lower prices.
Buying a counterfeit smartphone can lead to several problems for the customer. Such phones do not come with any company warranty, nor can they be repaired at authorized service centers. Furthermore, counterfeit phones pose a risk of data theft, technical malfunctions, and legal issues.
4 Important Things to Remember When Buying a Phone
Given this incident, you need to be vigilant. Here are some things to keep in mind when buying a smartphone: Buy phones only from official company stores or trusted retailers. Always check the phone's IMEI number. You can check it by dialing *#06# or through the Sanchar Saathi portal. Do not forget to get the original bill and warranty card at the time of purchase. Carefully examine the box packaging, seals, and the phone's build quality.
What to do if you have bought a fake phone?
If you have accidentally purchased a counterfeit smartphone, immediately file a complaint with the police. Also, provide complete details of the shop from which you bought the phone. Using a counterfeit phone can lead to serious problems later on. Therefore, file a complaint as soon as possible.
