EPFO: What is EPFO Passbook Lite, which will instantly tell you your PF account balance, check it online like this..
The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) recently launched a new feature, Passbook Lite, for its members. Launched in September 2025, the primary objective of this feature is to provide easy access to PF (Provident Fund)-related information. Members can now check their PF balances directly by logging into the member portal. Furthermore, they can also see how much money has been withdrawn or deposited into their accounts. Previously, members had to log in to a separate portal to view PF transactions, but the introduction of Passbook Lite has simplified this process. Now, people can check their balances with just one login. This feature was introduced as part of the EPFO 3.0 reforms.
What is EPFO Passbook Lite?
Passbook Lite is slightly different from the existing EPFO passbook. While the passbook contains a complete record of monthly deposits, interest, and every transaction, Passbook Lite is specifically designed for quick access to essential information. Members can instantly view their total balance, contributions, and past withdrawals.
Very useful for these individuals
Members who require a full or graphical display can still use their old passbook. Passbook Lite is very useful for employees who want to quickly check their PF balance directly from the member portal by logging in once, without any hassle.
Downloading Essential Documents Made Easy
EPFO has also simplified the downloading of Annexure K from the member portal. Annexure K is an essential document used for PF transfers when changing jobs. Now, members can download it directly from the portal, making it easier to track the PF transfer process upon changing jobs.
Benefits of EPFO Passbook Lite
Many employees previously faced problems logging in to the website to view their passbooks or experienced slow access. With the introduction of Passbook Lite, they can instantly access their PF balance, allowing them to stay updated on their savings.
You'll still need your old passbook for details.
Passbook Lite shows you a summary, but if you need complete monthly details, you can still view your old passbook by logging into the portal. Also, keep in mind that Passbook Lite is an additional feature. It will never replace the detailed passbook.
How to view EPFO Passbook Lite?
To view EPFO Passbook Lite, you must go directly to the EPFO Member portal https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/.
After that, log in by entering your UAN number and password.
Then go to the View option. Then click on Passbook Lite.
Now, you'll need to select your Member ID. After that, you'll be able to check your balance and other details.
