The government is continuously making necessary changes to ensure affordable or free rations are provided to eligible citizens under the NFSA (National Food Security Act). In this regard, a significant decision was recently made mandatory for ration card holders to complete e-KYC. This step was taken to ensure that only those citizens who truly deserve the benefits of the scheme can access it. While the ration card is a vital document for food security, it can also be used as proof of identity. Therefore, its verification after a certain period is crucial.

e-KYC Required Every 5 Years
Recently changed rules require every family to complete e-KYC of their ration card every 5 years. Many beneficiaries last completed this process around 2013, making it necessary to update it now. The silver lining is that the digital process has made e-KYC much easier, and most people can complete it online from home. Let's learn how...

How to perform e-KYC for your ration card from home?
First, install the Mera Ration and Aadhaar FaceRD apps on your mobile.
Then, open the app and enter your location.
Enter your Aadhaar number, captcha, and OTP to complete the verification process.
Your Aadhaar-related information will then appear on the screen.
From here, select the Face e-KYC option.
With the camera on, scan your face or capture a photo.
After submitting, the entire process will complete in a few seconds.

How to check if e-KYC has been completed?
If you've completed the process and want to check if e-KYC was successful, log in to the app again.

Open the Mera Ration app and enter your location.
Then, enter your Aadhaar number, captcha, and OTP.
If the details appear, "Status: Y" appears on the screen.
Unless e-KYC is complete, you'll understand that e-KYC is complete.
If Status: N is displayed, your e-KYC is not yet complete.
Offline Method for Ration Card e-KYC
If you're having trouble completing your Ration Card e-KYC online, you can also complete it by visiting your nearest ration dealer or CSC (Common Service Center). Simply bring your Aadhaar card and ration card with you.
