WhatsApp has introduced four new features for its users, aimed at making group chats more convenient. These updates will help users locate important messages in college, office, or family groups, and assist in bringing new members up to speed on past conversations. The new features include permanent message pinning, chat history sharing, group-specific status updates, and an unread message filter.

Permanent Message Pinning
Users can now keep important messages pinned at the top of a chat for an extended period. Previously, pinned messages would disappear after a set time; with this new feature, a message will remain pinned until it is manually unpinned. This ensures that all group members can easily access essential information.

Sharing Past Chats with New Members
It is now easier to bring new members into the loop regarding previous group discussions. Admins or existing members can share the chat history from the past few days with a new member by simply tapping on that person's name within the chat. According to the company, these shared chats remain end-to-end encrypted.

Group-Specific Status Updates
WhatsApp’s new group status feature allows users to share status updates with specific groups—for instance, creating a separate status for a family group or a running club. Group members can react to these updates and even contribute their own status entries. These updates will automatically disappear after 24 hours.

Unread Message Filter
Finding important messages in large groups has become easier. A new filter allows users to view unread chats where they have been mentioned or where someone has replied to their messages. This also includes '@all' mentions, making it simpler to focus on key conversations.
