DigiLocker: DigiLocker is making India a global leader! Learn how it's changing the system..
The Government of India is rapidly working towards taking the Digital India Mission to the next level. In this regard, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has described DigiLocker as a global model of the future, which will give a new identity to paperless governance through AI-based eKYC and global credential verification.
Trust in DigiLocker
In fact, the Ministry recently organized a conference on "DigiLocker - Enabling Paperless Access for All," attended by government officials, technology experts, and representatives from various ministries. At this conference, DigiLocker's role was highlighted as central to "digital trust," i.e., a platform that is becoming a digital link of trust between citizens, ministries, and institutions.
Meanwhile, S. Krishnan, Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and IT, stated that "DigiLocker is not only a means of digitally storing documents, but also serves as a new layer of trust between citizens and institutions." He stated that India's digital journey is now moving from "connectivity to capability" and "self-reliance to service."

Krishnan further stated, "Our vision is to create a future where every digital interaction is trustworthy, every citizen is empowered, and every institution ensures accountability."
Additional Secretary of the Ministry, Abhishek Singh, stated that technology-driven governance in India symbolizes a "digital trust revolution." He explained that DigiLocker is playing a significant role in bringing transparency and trust to government services for millions of citizens.
DigiLocker is a pillar of Digital India.
DigiLocker is now considered one of the most important pillars of "Digital India." Nand Kumaram, President of the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), stated that the platform is no longer limited to document storage but has become a powerful digital tool for securely accessing, verifying, and sharing IDs, financial documents, and certificates.
He explained that AI-based eKYC and global credential verification will be added to DigiLocker, allowing the validity of documents to be verified internationally. This will set India's paperless governance model as an example for the world.
Which State Received the Award?
The conference also honored the contributions of various states to digital governance. Assam was awarded the "Integration Excellence Award" for its successful integration of DigiLocker and its efforts to enhance transparency. Experts believe that in the future, with the help of DigiLocker, all credentials such as passports, licenses, degrees, PAN cards, or banking documents will be verified through a single digital identity. This will not only speed up government work but also significantly reduce fraud, forged documents, and paper waste.
This Indian initiative is also gaining global attention, as the government is working to make DigiLocker a "global model for paperless governance"—a digital ecosystem that ensures trust, security, and transparency.
