Online fraud is rapidly increasing in India. The government has launched a new plan to combat this, called 'Curbing Cyber Frauds in Digital India.' This plan will use artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to quickly detect and prevent fraud. In fact, more than 86% of Indian households are now connected to the internet. This has opened up many new opportunities for people, but the threat of cybercrime has also increased. According to CERT-In data, cybercrime complaints are projected to increase from 1.02 million in 2022 to 2.26 million in 2024. Experts say that, along with the number of crimes, criminal techniques are also becoming more sophisticated. According to a PIB report, the government has come up with a new plan that will utilize AI for fraud detection. Let's find out what the Indian government is planning.

3 pillars of India's cybersecurity plan
Detecting fraud with AI and ML: The government will use AI to quickly detect suspicious transactions. This technology will help banks and police prevent fraudulent transfers.

Helpline: The National Cyber Helpline 1930 and the cybercrime.gov.in website will be integrated with AI. This will enable banks, telecom companies, and police to work together more quickly.

Curb Counterfeit SIMs and Devices: The government has blocked 9.42 lakh SIM cards and 2.63 lakh IMEI numbers used for fraud. This is a major step towards securing the digital system.

Policemen have also been trained.
The government is preparing people along with technology. 1.05 lakh police personnel have been trained on cybercrime and digital evidence through the 'CyTrain' platform. New laws such as the Information Technology Act, Intermediary Guidelines, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 have increased the responsibility of online platforms.
