At CES 2026, Google announced major upgrades to Gemini AI for Google TV. Google TV will no longer be limited to just voice commands, but will become a fully interactive family screen with smart features such as visual responses, Google Photos integration, AI image and video tools (Nano Banana and Veo), and natural language control of TV settings. Google stated that Gemini was integrated into Google TV last year, replacing Google Assistant, and new capabilities have been continuously added since then.

What will change?
The biggest change will be seen in Gemini's visual response system. Now, users will see answers to their questions not only in text, but also with images, videos, and live sports updates when needed. For complex topics, Gemini will offer a new Deep Dive option, which will display interactive explanations in simple language. This feature could prove very useful for family learning or casual knowledge acquisition.

In addition, Gemini is now further integrated with the Google Photos library on Google TV. Users can search for photos of a specific person, trip, or memorable moment using natural language, and these photos can be displayed directly on the TV screen. Furthermore, memories can be presented creatively through features like photo remixes and cinematic slideshows.

Which features will be special?
Google has also brought its AI creation tools to the living room. Image generation via Nano Banana and video generation via Veo will now be possible directly on Google TV. This means users can create stylish images, creative visuals, and short video concepts on their TV without needing a phone or computer. Another very practical feature is natural language TV control. There will be no need to navigate through menus to find settings. If the user says the screen is too dim or the dialogue is inaudible, Gemini will automatically adjust the picture and sound settings in real time.

According to Google, these new Gemini features will first be rolled out to select TCL Google TV devices. Support will be extended to other brands in the coming months. These updates will require Android TV OS 14 or later and will initially be available in a limited number of regions and languages.
