The process for this differs for Jio, Airtel, and Vi users. However, one thing is clear: a refund is not guaranteed for every erroneous recharge that has already gone through, so taking immediate action is crucial.
What should Jio users do?
Jio offers a facility to reverse incorrect recharges, subject to certain terms and conditions. This facility applies only to recharges made via the MyJio App or Jio.com. There is an option to cancel a standard plan within three hours of a successful recharge. To do this, navigate to the 'Recharges & History' section in the MyJio App.
In the MyJio App, select the specific recharge and choose the 'Cancel Plan' option. The refund can be issued as MyJio Store Credit or credited back to the original payment method. However, specific rules and eligibility criteria apply even in cases where the recharge was made to the wrong Jio number.
What should Airtel users do?
If you have accidentally recharged the wrong Airtel number, you have a window of only 2 to 3 hours to rectify it—provided the recipient of the incorrect recharge has not used any data or calling services. To proceed, go to the Airtel Thanks App, open it, and navigate to the 'Help & Support' section. Click on 'Facing issue with recent recharge,' select the 'Wrong Recharge' option, and register your complaint via the chatbot.
What should Vi users do?
Vi allows users to rectify incorrect recharges via SMS. To do this, send an SMS from your number within 24 hours of the recharge. SMS Format: Type `WRR
If this does not work, contact Vi customer care at 199 or register a complaint at customercare@vodafoneidea.com. However, if the recharge has failed and the money has been deducted, Vi states that the amount will be refunded within 7 working days.
