It is often observed that mobile signals become weak inside homes, office cabins, or basements, leading to call drops. To address this problem, BSNL has officially launched its Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) service, or Wi-Fi calling, in all circles across the country.

What is this VoWiFi service?
As the name suggests, this service connects calls via Wi-Fi. If you are using a BSNL SIM card, you can take advantage of this service. In simple terms, the VoWiFi service does not require mobile tower signals to make calls. This service can be very helpful in places where the network is often weak or where there are frequent signal drops. If you have Wi-Fi installed at your home or office from any company, your phone will use that Wi-Fi to make calls.

Some key features of this service:
The most notable feature of the VoWiFi service is that the call quality is crystal clear and in HD. You don't need WhatsApp or any other third-party app for this. You can make calls using your phone's regular dialer. Your call will go through using your existing mobile number, and the recipient will also see your number. This service is completely free; BSNL is not charging any extra fees for it.

A boon for remote areas and villages
This service will prove very beneficial for rural and remote areas where the mobile network is weak, but a BSNL broadband connection is available. This will also reduce network congestion and improve connectivity significantly.

How to activate this service?
Using VoWiFi on your phone is very easy. You just need to follow these steps:
Go to your smartphone's Settings.
Find Wi-Fi Calling in the SIM & Network or Connection options.
Enable (turn on) it.
Please note that if the Wi-Fi is turned off during a Wi-Fi call, the call may be disconnected. It is essential to stay connected to the Wi-Fi signal. Most modern smartphones nowadays have this feature pre-installed. If you encounter any problems, you can visit your nearest BSNL customer service center or call the toll-free helpline at 1800-1503.
