BSNL 5G: When will BSNL 5G launch? It could start in these two cities..
While private telecom companies like Jio, Airtel, and Vi are providing high-speed 5G networks to their users, BSNL is also preparing to launch its own 5G service soon. After a long wait, BSNL may finally launch its 5G service in Delhi and Mumbai by December 2025. According to reports, BSNL's 5G network will be based entirely on indigenous technology, making it significantly different from private companies. Let's learn more about this in detail...
5G service to launch in Delhi and Mumbai
According to recent reports, BSNL has completed all the necessary equipment and technical testing processes for its 5G service. An official from the Department of Telecommunications also recently stated that all systems are functioning as expected. Therefore, the company is preparing to launch its 5G network in both metro cities by December 2025.
With this launch, BSNL will offer its customers a high-speed 5G experience for the first time. This is significant news for millions of users who have long relied on the government company instead of private operators. While Jio and Airtel already offer high-speed 5G services across the country, this move by BSNL could pose a significant challenge to these private companies.
Why was the BSNL 5G launch delayed?
Many people may be wondering why BSNL didn't launch its 5G network much earlier, like other private companies, and why it is taking so long. The main reason is that the government is pursuing the "Atmanirbhar Bharat" initiative. Instead of relying on technology from foreign companies, the government is developing its own domestic 4G and 5G technology.
To this end, the government has signed deals worth over ₹25,000 crore with TCS, Tejas Networks, and C-DoT. Under this project, 100,000 4G towers are being installed across the country, which will later be upgraded to 5G. So far, BSNL has installed over 95,000 4G towers, and these will be converted to 5G networks in the coming months.
