The Indian government's cybersecurity agency, CERT-In, recently issued a serious warning to millions of Android users in the country. The agency stated that several vulnerabilities have been discovered in the Android operating system, which could be exploited by hackers to target your smartphone or tablet. CERT-In's new advisory (CVIN-2025-0293) states that smartphones and tablets running Android 13 and above may be affected.

This means that most devices currently in use are vulnerable. Affected brands include Samsung, OnePlus, Realme, Redmi, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, and Motorola. These vulnerabilities primarily relate to chipsets manufactured by companies like Qualcomm, MediaTek, Nvidia, Broadcom, and Unisoc.

CERT-In stated that hackers could exploit these security flaws to gain control of your device, steal data, or make changes to it. These attacks could use malicious apps or malware, which could compromise your data. The agency has described this as a high risk and urged all users to update their devices immediately.

How to Secure Your Android Device
Check for the latest Android version by going to Settings > About Phone.
Or search for Software Update in Settings to check for updates.
If an update is available, download and install it.
After installing, restart your phone to ensure all changes take effect.
Regularly updating software and avoiding downloading suspicious apps is crucial for Android users' safety.
