BHIM MyUPI: In this era of digital payments, UPI has become an integral part of our lives. However, users often face significant hassles regarding stuck payments, transfers to the wrong recipient, or issues related to AutoPay. To address these concerns, the BHIM payments app has taken a major step forward. NBSL, a subsidiary of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), launched an AI assistant named ‘MyUPI’ on September 22. This assistant was unveiled at the Global Fintech Fest 2026. Now, users will no longer need to fill out lengthy forms to report their issues.

Resolve your queries through conversation
MyUPI is no ordinary feature; it is an AI-powered companion capable of conversing with you. Currently, it offers 24/7 service in Hindi, English, Telugu, Bengali, and Tamil. Whether you need details about a past transaction or wish to lodge a complaint, you can simply ask for help using conversational language. This feature is easily accessible within the ‘Quick Actions’ section of the BHIM app. Upon lodging a complaint, you will receive a reference number, allowing you to easily track the status of your grievance.

A powerful new tool for security
Incidents of online fraud are rising rapidly these days. With this in mind, the new feature includes a ‘Pay Safe’ option. This allows you to verify the recipient's real name by entering their UPI ID or scanning their QR code before making a payment. Additionally, it features a ‘Safety Switch.’ If you ever suspect your phone has been stolen, your account compromised, or you receive a suspicious message, you can immediately block your bank account. The AI assistant will also alert you about new methods of fraud.

You Have Full Control Over Autopay
Often, money is deducted from our accounts without a PIN being entered, leaving users unaware of the reason for the deduction. ‘MyUPI’ provides complete details regarding all such mandates (autopay). You can pause, resume, or permanently cancel any autopay arrangement at your discretion. If you do not wish for others to send money to your mobile number, you can also de-link your number from UPI. Additionally, the feature includes a ‘Transaction Replay’ option; if a previous payment failed, you can re-process it using a new PIN—even if the original payment was initiated via a different app.

No Payment Without a PIN
Regarding this new feature, some users might wonder if the AI will execute payments automatically. BHIM has clarified that there is no compromise on security; no payment will be completed without entering the UPI PIN. Lalitha Nataraj, MD & CEO of NPCI BHIM Services Ltd., states that this new feature enhances the app's reliability, enabling customers to take timely action based on accurate information without any apprehension. Plans are also underway to add support for various other regional languages to this assistant in the future.
