There's a new buzz in the world of messaging apps in India. Amidst the long-standing dominance of global platforms like WhatsApp, Zoho's indigenous messenger app, Arattai, is rapidly gaining users' attention. Chennai-based Zoho has introduced it as an indigenous communication platform.

Arattai vs WhatsApp: India has taken steps towards establishing its own identity in the era of digital communication. In this context, Zoho has developed Arattai, an indigenous messenger app that is being touted as an alternative to WhatsApp in India. This app, which challenges global platforms like WhatsApp, offers users some features that WhatsApp currently lacks. Let's find out in what ways Arattai surpasses WhatsApp.

These changes were made after the arrest of Telegram CEO Pavel Durov in France.

1. Chatting without a mobile number

WhatsApp's biggest feature is that it allows you to chat without sharing your mobile number. Users can start a conversation with a stranger simply by creating a unique username. It's also easy to share photos, videos, documents, and location. This feature is currently not available on WhatsApp.

2. Meeting Feature

Users can create dedicated meetings in Arttai. This is separate from video and audio calls and can be used for business meetings or group discussions. Whereas, WhatsApp only offers a call link or scheduling for meetings.

3. Mentions and Notifications

Arttai's Mentions feature shows users which chats they've been mentioned in. This feature is especially useful for busy chat groups. WhatsApp doesn't have an aggregated option for viewing mentions.

4. Pockets

Arttai's Pockets feature securely stores important messages, media, and notes in the cloud, allowing users to access them later from any device. WhatsApp doesn't offer protected storage for messages or media.

5. Improved Privacy Controls

Arttai offers several privacy options—such as hiding last seen and online status, and setting permissions for adding to groups or calling. The most notable feature is the Username feature, which allows users to share their contact details without revealing their number. This option is not available on WhatsApp.
