The Arattai messaging app by Zoho has recently gained attention after a Union Minister highlighted it on X. Since then, it has become one of the most downloaded messaging apps on the Play Store in India. Arattai is being positioned as a WhatsApp alternative, offering similar features such as texting, calling, file sharing, and more. However, one unique feature sets it apart from WhatsApp: Android TV support.

Chatting on Android TV

Users can now log in to their Arattai account on Android TV and continue conversations directly on a large screen. This feature is currently not available on WhatsApp. Arattai provides a dedicated app for Android TV, which can be downloaded from the Play Store, making it ideal for users who prefer a bigger display for chats and calls.

Multi-Device Support

In addition to Android TV, Arattai supports Windows, macOS, and Linux, allowing multi-device login on up to five devices. This flexibility makes it more versatile than WhatsApp, which currently doesn’t offer smart TV support.

Calling Features

Arattai allows both individual and group calls, making it easier for users to connect on a larger screen.

Privacy and Performance

Zoho emphasizes a privacy-first approach:

  • All chats are end-to-end encrypted during transit.

  • User data is not shared with advertisers or third parties.

  • The app has a lightweight design, ensuring smooth performance even on low-memory smartphones and 2G/3G networks, making it accessible for users in rural areas.

Arattai’s Android TV support and multi-device capabilities give it a unique edge over WhatsApp, making chatting more flexible, convenient, and secure.
