Apple is working on refining the display design for its upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models. According to recent reports, rather than introducing a completely new design this time around, the company may focus on shrinking the existing Dynamic Island. This would provide users with a cleaner and more modern aesthetic.

According to leaks, the pill-shaped cutout—housing the TrueDepth camera and Face ID system—will remain on the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models. However, its physical size is expected to be reduced. It is rumored that this cutout could shrink to approximately 13.49mm, which is significantly smaller than the roughly 20mm size found on current models.

This modification may be made possible by shifting certain Face ID components underneath the display. However, since fully functional under-display camera technology is not yet ready for prime time, Apple is currently gradually implementing these changes.

No Major Design Changes Expected

Reports also suggest that Apple will not be making any drastic changes to the design this time around. The bezel size is expected to remain largely unchanged, and the overall aesthetic will likely mirror that of previous models. According to some leaks, this smaller Dynamic Island feature may be exclusive to the Pro models.

The Apple iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to feature the new A20 Pro chip, which will be built on 2nm process technology. Additionally, the series is anticipated to feature a battery capacity exceeding 5000mAh, along with significant camera upgrades.

When Will It Launch?

The iPhone 18 Pro series—including the iPhone 18 Pro Max—is expected to launch in September. Following this release, Apple's rumored foldable iPhone may also be unveiled at a later date.

Is This Change Necessary?

Although this change may appear minor, it will undoubtedly enhance the overall screen experience. Apple is gradually moving toward a true full-screen design, and this move is considered a significant step in that direction.
