Apart from the Railvan app, where can you find the complete list of special trains with just one click?
In anticipation of the heavy rush of passengers traveling to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh for the upcoming Navratri, Diwali, and Chhath Puja festivals, Indian Railways has introduced a special digital system. To protect passengers—who often struggle to secure confirmed tickets—from touts, the Railways has released an online list of all festival special trains along with real-time data on available seats, accessible with just a single click. This means the new system consolidates information about all special trains and seat availability into one easily accessible location.
Indian Railways has updated its official inquiry system to ensure information about special trains reaches the public effectively. Passengers can visit the NTES website or app and click on the 'Proposed Special Trains' tab to view the list of all festival special trains announced across the country.
Acknowledging the long waiting lists, the railway administration has added extra coaches to several special trains. By using the 'Train Charting' or 'Vacant Berth Status' options on IRCTC, passengers can view the live status of available seats either during the booking process or after the reservation chart has been prepared.
What are the ticket booking options besides the RailOne app?
According to recent announcements in newspapers and advertisements, while passengers are indeed using the popular RailOne app to book tickets, several other official and secure alternatives exist—especially during periods of heavy traffic. You can book confirmed seats directly through the IRCTC Next Generation e-ticketing website (www.irctc.co.in), which serves as the primary official portal for the Railways.
Additionally, by downloading the IRCTC Rail Connect mobile app from the Play Store, you can book tickets on special trains under the Tatkal or General quotas in just a few seconds. You can make inquiries, check for schedule changes, or get information about train routes via the RailMadad portal and the 139 helpline. Passengers can call the 139 helpline or use the RailMadad website.
If you wish to travel in the General/Unreserved coaches of special festival trains, you can book a general ticket directly through the UTS mobile app, avoiding long queues at the station.
Due to heavy passenger traffic during the festive season, the Railways has requested passengers to book their tickets only through official channels.
