Google has released a new security feature for Android users that will help protect them from online fraud and scams. This feature activates when a user opens their banking or payment app during a call from an unknown number. In such a situation, the system alerts the user by displaying a warning message on the screen. Scams often occur when a caller, posing as a bank employee, pressures the user to send money or share their screen. Google's new feature is designed to prevent this type of fraud and enhance user security.

How will this new feature work?

Under this feature, a warning pop-up will immediately appear on the screen if suspicious activity is detected. For example, if a user is on a call from an unknown number and opens Google Pay, Paytm, or any other banking or financial app, the system will immediately issue an alert. This warning also includes two quick options: to immediately disconnect the call and to immediately stop screen sharing. This allows the user to make the right decision without panicking and to be alerted before any fraud occurs.

After Google's warning, the banking or payment app will only open after a 30-second delay. This is because scammers often try to pressure users into making hasty decisions. This 30-second buffer time gives the user an opportunity to pause, think, and understand the situation.

Launched in India, it is already saving thousands of people's savings
Google has confirmed that it is launching this feature in India. Testing is also underway with apps like Google Pay, Paytm, and Navi. A similar system has already saved thousands of users from scams in the UK (United Kingdom). Following this success, testing is now underway in India, Brazil, and other countries.
