WhatsApp's New About Feature

The new 'About' feature gives users an easy way to share what they're doing or thinking. If you're busy or unable to reply for some reason, you can simply write a short text and post a status. It's more visible than before, and your contacts can reply directly after seeing it, making it easier to start a conversation. WhatsApp says they've re-improved this feature to help people quickly share their mood or situation with others.

This feature also offers several custom options, such as who you want to see your About status. The default time is 24 hours, but you can set it for a longer or shorter period if you wish. However, it currently only supports text, whereas Instagram Notes can also include short videos and music. However, Meta hinted that more features may be added in the future.

How to use it?

• Open WhatsApp and go to your profile icon or the About section in Settings.
• Tap 'Add About' and type a short update, such as 'Busy, will reply later' or 'On a weekend trip.'
• Then set the visibility and timer, and post.

Your update will be immediately visible to your contacts, and they can reply directly if they wish. The new About feature is considered an interesting step towards making connections easier on WhatsApp.
