Amazon Pay Biometric Authentication: If you use Amazon Pay, you're about to get enhanced security. Amazon Pay has launched biometric authentication support for UPI payments in India. Now, users will be able to make payments using fingerprint or face recognition without entering their UPI PIN. The company says this will make transactions more secure and faster. This feature will specifically help reduce problems like UPI fraud and PIN theft.

How Biometric UPI Will Work in Amazon Pay
According to Amazon Pay, users can now authenticate UPI payments using fingerprint or face recognition. This feature will be available for sending money, scanning and paying at stores, checking account balances, and shopping on Amazon. Biometric verification will act like a secure key, eliminating the need to enter a PIN every time.

Feature Applicable to Transactions Up to Rs 5,000
The company has clarified that biometric authentication will only be valid for UPI transactions up to Rs 5,000. If the payment amount is higher, users will still need to enter their UPI PIN. Amazon says this limit strikes a balance between convenience and security.

Claim of Faster, Easier, and More Secure Payments
Amazon Pay claims that this new feature enables faster transactions with one-handed usage. The risk of PIN leakage will be significantly reduced due to fingerprint and face recognition. According to the company, this feature will work seamlessly across all UPI sections, including Send Money, Scan & Pay, and merchant payments.

This Feature Has Been Introduced Before by Others
Amazon Pay is not the first company to introduce biometric UPI. In October, Navi UPI offered UPI payments with fingerprint and face verification. Following this, NPCI also introduced biometric and wearable glass-based authentication for UPI. Samsung Wallet was also updated with this feature at the end of October, which clearly shows that the UPI ecosystem is rapidly becoming more secure.
