Amazon: Here’s how you can double your earnings with Amazon’s new 'Creator Connections'..
Amazon Creator Connections Launch: If you are a social media content creator and struggle to secure sponsorships or brand deals, there is great news for you. E-commerce giant Amazon has launched 'Creator Connections' in India—a new, specialized monetization platform designed for content creators.
Through this program, content creators across the country—whether small or large—will have the opportunity to connect directly with over 50,000 brands and earn extra income from their content.
Let’s break down in simple terms how this new Amazon program works, how it boosts creator earnings, and why it is a major game-changer for India's creator economy.
What is 'Creator Connections' and how does it work?
Until now, creators often had to deal with third-party agencies to promote brands or rely solely on affiliate commissions. However, this new feature offers:
Direct Dashboard: Creators can visit their Amazon dashboard to view brand campaigns directly and apply for those that align with their preferences.
Dual Earnings (CPC + Commission): Under this program, creators earn not only affiliate commissions on product sales but also payments based on every click their link receives (Cost-Per-Click or CPC).
Personalized Campaigns: If you are a fashion or beauty creator, your dashboard will display promotional opportunities specifically for fashion and beauty products.
Starting with 5,000 creators, earnings can jump up to 5x during the festive season
Amazon has launched this program featuring 50,000 brands and an initial cohort of 5,000 selected creators. In the future, it will be opened up to Amazon's entire network of over 165,000 creators.
This launch is particularly significant as it arrives just ahead of the upcoming 'Amazon Great Indian Festival' sale. During the festive season, creator earnings can increase by up to five times compared to regular periods. This year, over 60 million products have been sold on Amazon through content created by creators. Approximately 70% of the buyers involved in purchases driven by creators hail from non-metro areas (smaller cities and towns).
'The era of just brand deals is over; it is now the age of multiple income sources'
Nidhi Thakkar, Head of Social Commerce for Emerging Countries at Amazon, told *Moneycontrol* that while brand deals used to be the primary source of income until six years ago, creators today are exploring diverse avenues for earning.
She noted that this new feature would particularly benefit mid-level and nano/micro-creators who focus on affiliate marketing. The program is expected to prove highly effective for creators in categories such as beauty, parenting, technology, home decor, and fitness.
MakeMyTrip and Cleartrip have also offered similar opportunities
Before Amazon, travel platforms like MakeMyTrip and Cleartrip had also launched affiliate and performance-based programs for creators.
While the number of creators in India has grown rapidly, a significant portion of the earnings still goes to a handful of major celebrities and top-tier influencers. Small and regional creators often struggle to secure a regular monthly income. Performance-based models from platforms like Amazon, MakeMyTrip, and Cleartrip will help provide creators in smaller towns with a fixed and stable income.
