Since most of these scams occur via mobile phones, Google and Apple have introduced features to protect users from suspicious calls, messages, links, and apps. Many of these features operate directly on the phone using AI.

Must-know security features on Android:
1. Fake Call Detection
If a call comes from a saved number but the caller is not the actual person, this feature issues a warning. It also helps identify suspicious calls in situations like call forwarding. This feature is available on devices running Android 12 or later that use the Google Phone app and is enabled by default.

2. Scam Detection
This feature warns against sharing personal information during a call if a suspicious situation arises. It is available on Google's Pixel 9 and newer models, as well as on the Samsung S26 and other flagship phones.

3. Virtual Assistant to Handle Calls
When receiving a call, you can select the 'Call Screen' or 'Call Assist' option. This allows a virtual assistant to handle the call on your behalf. You can view the transcript or recording after the call ends. This feature is available on select Google and Samsung devices.

iPhones keep messages from known contacts and unknown senders separate. Notifications for messages from unknown senders are also suppressed.
