Video creation for YouTube creators is set to become increasingly AI-powered. At the 'Made on YouTube' event, the company unveiled several new features spanning AI, editing, research, comment moderation, and shopping.

For video creators, YouTube is no longer just a platform for uploading videos. The company has introduced new features—covering AI, editing, research, comment management, and shopping—to streamline the creator workflow. At the 'Made on YouTube' event, YouTube announced that these new tools would assist at various stages: from the initial creation of a video to refining it and reaching the audience. These updates will be integrated into platforms such as YouTube Studio, Shorts, and YouTube Create.

AI Assistance Before Video Creation Begins

New 'Insights' and 'Research' sections in YouTube Studio will help creators analyze the performance of past videos and identify those that have performed differently compared to the rest of their content. For video drafts, AI will offer suggestions regarding pacing, structure, and storytelling. The thumbnail creation process has also been updated; creators can now design thumbnails that align with their channel's style. Additionally, 'dynamic thumbnails' will be able to suggest different options tailored to specific audience segments.

AI-Powered Editing in Shorts with Gemini

A Gemini-powered editing assistant is being introduced for YouTube Shorts and YouTube Create. Creators can issue instructions to rearrange frames, trim clips, and sync music based on their needs. They also retain the flexibility to switch back to manual timeline editing whenever required.

YouTube is also testing an opt-in AI comment moderation tool that learns to moderate comments according to the creator's preferences. To enhance identity protection, there are plans to combine speaking voice detection with facial detection for 'likeness detection.'

'Ask YouTube' to Serve as a Shopping Assistant

YouTube's 'Ask YouTube' feature is being expanded to support shopping. While watching videos, users will be able to ask questions about products, view specifications, and ask follow-up questions based on the answers they receive. A comparison table will also be displayed to allow users to compare products based on their needs. An option to use this feature via voice commands on YouTube TV will also be provided.

YouTube Shopping to Expand in India

YouTube is expanding its Shopping affiliate programme in India. In addition to Amazon, platforms such as AJIO, Meesho, Snapdeal, and Tata CLiQ will also be included. According to YouTube, over 450 million logged-in users in India search for shopping-related content, and the watch time for such content has grown by 55 percent over the past year. More than 50 percent of Indian creators are now part of this programme, having tagged products in over 19 million videos. Average creator payouts increased by more than 160 percent between Q1 2025 and Q1 2026. Furthermore, product tags will now be displayed based on local offers and currencies specific to different countries.
