AI is accelerating in India, but job creation remains stagnant! This report exposes the reality.
Artificial Intelligence: Companies in India are rapidly adopting a positive stance towards artificial intelligence.
Artificial Intelligence: Companies in India are rapidly adopting a positive stance towards artificial intelligence. According to a new report by Accenture, top-level management in the country, i.e., C-suite leaders, consider AI not just a trend, but a strong foundation for future growth. This is why most companies are planning to increase their spending on AI this year.
88% of Leaders Will Increase Investment in AI
Accenture's ‘Pulse of Change’ survey revealed that approximately 88% of C-suite leaders in India want to increase their investment in AI. Of these, 69% of executives believe that AI is not just a means of reducing costs, but can become a major tool for increasing revenue. However, 27% of executives also acknowledged that the lack of skilled talent remains the biggest challenge on this path.
Job Design and Training Still Lagging
The report reveals the surprising fact that despite heavy investment, very few companies are preparing their employees for AI. In India, only 24% of organizations have been able to initiate a continuous learning process related to AI. Meanwhile, less than 10% of companies are creating new job structures keeping AI in mind.
AI Adoption is High, but Hiring Remains Uncertain
The survey included 3,650 C-suite leaders and 3,350 other employees from large companies across 20 countries. According to the report, 60% of top leaders in India are ready to increase spending on AI, but if enthusiasm for AI decreases in the future, only half of the companies will consider new hires.
AI Has Moved Beyond Experimentation
Accenture states that AI is no longer limited to experimentation but has been adopted on a large scale. In India, approximately 41% of organizations are using AI agents for various tasks. Meanwhile, 24% of companies have implemented fully AI-based end-to-end processes. Additionally, 39% of C-suite leaders are using generative AI tools daily.
Employees' understanding of AI is increasing
Although a shortage of skilled talent remains an issue, most companies report that their employees have basic training in using AI. In India, approximately 47% of employees are using AI tools to enhance their productivity, while 83% see its potential to have a significant impact on business.
AI becomes a priority, but concerns about risks persist
According to the report, 64% of C-suite leaders have now made AI a priority for investment. Despite this, their confidence is not entirely strong regarding environmental changes and global political instability. In India, both enthusiasm and investment in AI are increasing, but redesigning job roles and addressing the skills gap remain significant challenges.
