AI Digital Avatar: A US-based AI startup has developed a method to understand a person's personality and preferences without needing to speak to them directly.

AI Digital Avatar: In today's world, it is crucial for companies to know what people think about their products or services. Traditionally, companies conduct lengthy surveys, interviews, and market research—processes that consume significant time and money. However, a US AI startup has now developed a method to gauge a person's personality and preferences without direct interaction. The company claims its AI technology can deliver highly accurate results by analyzing people's digital avatars.

What is the US startup's claim?

Simuli, a Silicon Valley AI startup, claims to have developed technology capable of creating digital or "agentic" twins (AI Twins) of humans. According to the company, these AI avatars can understand an individual's personality, mindset, and preferences to predict their likely reaction to a product, brand, or new policy. This eliminates the need for companies to repeatedly conduct large-scale surveys.

Understanding patient behavior

CVS Health, a US healthcare company, wanted to understand why patients often fail to take prescribed medications on time. To investigate this, the company analyzed data from approximately 400,000 AI-generated digital avatars. Simuli's technology identified the key personality-related factors within minutes, providing the necessary insights without the need for extensive surveys. The company aims to go beyond surveys; it is developing technology where AI avatars would use products over time and share their experiences. The company believes that in the future, businesses might interact with customers' AI avatars—rather than the individuals themselves—to understand their preferences and opinions.

How did the story of this technology begin?

Simuli was founded by 32-year-old Joon Sung Park; while studying at Stanford University, he worked on technology capable of creating digital characters that think and behave like humans. This concept was inspired by the popular game *The Sims*. He believed that by simulating various scenarios in a digital world, one could better understand human behavior and find solutions to numerous problems.

How was the model developed?

Initially, the company trained its AI model by conducting two-hour interviews with 1,000 individuals from diverse backgrounds. Subsequently, in collaboration with organizations like Gallup, it incorporated behavioral data from millions of people worldwide into its system. Based on this foundation, the company developed its AI "digital twins." Following a positive reception for this technology, the one-year-old startup secured new funding worth ₹1,910 crore, bringing its total valuation to ₹19,100 crore.

How accurate are the AI avatars?

According to Mihika Kapoor, Simuli’s Head of Product, tests conducted across various scenarios and diverse groups of people showed that the AI agents' responses were between 85% and 99% accurate. She notes that this method is faster and more cost-effective than traditional market research.
