AI Collar: Will Your Pets Really Be Able to Talk Like Humans? Chinese Startup Develops Unique AI Collar..
If you have a pet at home, you have undoubtedly tried talking to it at some point. We often struggle to decipher the true meaning behind their barks or meows. However, a truly astonishing piece of news is now emerging from the world of technology. A Chinese startup claims to have developed an AI collar capable of translating your pet's communication into human language.
How Does This AI Collar Work?
This Chinese tech startup, named 'Meng Xiaoyi,' has introduced a specialized pet translator. According to the company, the device is worn around your pet's neck, much like a standard collar. It is equipped with specialized microphones and motion sensors. These sensors analyze not only the animals' vocalizations but also their physical body language.
The device was developed using Alibaba Cloud's 'Qwen AI' model. This AI has been trained on a dataset comprising millions of animal vocal samples. The company claims that the device can identify over twenty distinct animal emotions with an accuracy rate of approximately 95 percent.
Two-Way Communication Is Possible
This device does not operate as a one-way communication tool; it works both ways. The company states that you, too, can use it to converse with your pet. When you speak into the device in human language, the collar translates your words into barks or meows, conveying the message to your pet. The collar weighs a mere 27 grams.
Additionally, the pet owner carries a small wireless handheld device that remains wirelessly connected to the collar. A video released by the company demonstrates that when a cat meows, the collar vocalizes the phrase, "I want to play." Similarly, when a dog barks, the collar translates it as, "I'm hungry."
Public Skepticism Amidst Heavy Pre-Orders
Official sales of this unique collar are scheduled to commence on May 30th. The introductory price has been set at 799 Yuan—approximately 11,000 Indian Rupees. Even before its launch, this collar has already received over 10,000 pre-orders. However, people on social media remain unconvinced regarding this claim. On X, several users have raised doubts about the assertion that the device is 95% accurate.
Some have questioned whether there is any certifying body capable of verifying that the AI is performing translations with absolute accuracy. Meanwhile, some pet lovers believe they do not need any technology to understand their pets; they are able to intuitively recognize their pets' expressions of love and hunger on their own.
