There's no need to carry your Aadhaar card everywhere, as you can now store, share, and verify it digitally. With face authentication, biometric lock, and QR sharing, this app allows you to access Aadhaar anywhere and anytime.

UIDAI has introduced an app that allows you to digitally store your Aadhaar on your smartphone with enhanced privacy and control. This app is available on both Android and iOS. It offers increased security, easy access, and a completely paperless experience. You can now securely share your Aadhaar via QR code and choose which information to share. For example, if you only want your name and photo, you can hide sensitive information like your address or date of birth.

UIDAI wrote on the social media platform X, "Carry your digital identity smartly! The new Aadhaar app provides greater security, easier access, and a completely paperless experience anywhere, anytime."

Users will be able to see when and where their Aadhaar has been used.
With this app, you can lock or unlock your biometric data and see when and where your Aadhaar has been used. You can also store multiple Aadhaar cards for your family in one place. This app is going to be a one-stop solution for digital identity management.

How to download the new Aadhaar app?
The new Aadhaar app is easy to set up. Download the 'Aadhaar' app from the Play Store or App Store, grant the necessary permissions, and enter your Aadhaar number. After verifying your mobile number, the app will verify your identity through face authentication. Then, set a security PIN in the app, and the app will be ready to use. UIDAI aims to make Aadhaar more secure, flexible, and user-friendly. This will reduce the need for physical cards and allow people to have complete control over their data.

Can name, date of birth, and mobile number be updated online?
Several media reports claimed that the myAadhaar portal would allow updating names, dates of birth, and mobile numbers starting November 1, 2025. However, this feature is not available on the UIDAI website or the myAadhaar portal. Currently, only the address can be updated online; other changes require a visit to an Aadhaar enrollment center.

Only Online Address Updates Available
According to the UIDAI portal, only address updates can be done online. Other information, such as name, date of birth/age, gender, mobile number, email address, relationship status, and data sharing consent, requires a visit to an enrollment center. Regarding the online update process, UIDAI states, "You cannot update your mobile number online. You must visit an Aadhaar enrollment center. You can also book an appointment online, but you must provide your current mobile number."

What is the way to update your address online?

Aadhaar number holders can submit an address update request online through the myAadhaar portal. A mobile number linked to Aadhaar is required. Login requires entering the Aadhaar number and authentication via OTP. Supporting address proof documents must be uploaded to complete the update.
