A Powerful Feature Is Coming to WhatsApp! You Will Be Able to Chat Even with People Who Don't Have an Account..
WhatsApp, one of the world's most popular messaging platforms, may soon introduce a new feature. According to reports, the company is testing a feature called "Guest Chats," which will allow users to chat with people who do not have a WhatsApp account. This feature will enable users to temporarily invite anyone to join a chat via a special link. Notably, these conversations will be protected by end-to-end encryption—just like the rest of the platform.
What is WhatsApp's Guest Chats Feature?
According to a report by WABetaInfo, this new feature will allow users to communicate with individuals who do not possess a WhatsApp account. To facilitate this, a temporary "guest session" will be created. When an invitation link is sent to someone, they can simply open the link to join the chat directly; they will not be required to create a separate WhatsApp account to participate. Consequently, this feature is expected to be highly useful for facilitating quick and hassle-free conversations.
How the Feature Works via a Link
According to the feature tracker WABetaInfo, users will be able to generate a link either through the app's "Invite a friend" section or from the bottom of their contact list. This link can then be shared via SMS, email, or any other messaging platform. The recipient can join the conversation directly by opening the link in a mobile or desktop browser. Within the chat interface, a "Guest" label will appear alongside the names of such users.
Limited Features in Guest Chats
Since this feature is designed for temporary interactions, it will come with certain limitations. For instance, Guest Chats will not support features such as group chats, photo or video sharing, document sharing, GIFs, stickers, or voice messages. Furthermore, voice and video calling capabilities will not be available within this mode. In essence, this feature is being developed primarily for text-based messaging.
Security and Chat Duration
According to the report, Guest Chats will be secured by WhatsApp's end-to-end encryption technology. When a guest joins a chat, the system will generate a unique identifier used to create the encryption keys for that specific conversation. Additionally, these chats will not be permanent; they are designed to be temporary in nature. If no conversation takes place for 10 days, the guest chat will automatically expire. Subsequently, to continue the conversation, the user will need to generate a new invite link. Currently, this feature is in beta testing and may be released to all users in the near future.
