The Consumer Electronics Show 2026 (CES 2026) is set to begin on January 6th in Las Vegas, USA. Ahead of the event, Samsung and LG have unveiled their latest TV display technology, Micro RGB. Both companies are among the world's largest consumer electronics manufacturers and will be showcasing this new technology at the show. While most people are familiar with LCD, LED, and OLED displays, the question on everyone's mind is: What exactly is a Micro RGB TV? Let's find out.

Micro RGB TV to be unveiled at CES 2026
Both tech giants have announced that they will be introducing this new TV display technology at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2026). Samsung says it will offer its Micro RGB TVs in 55-inch, 65-inch, 75-inch, 85-inch, 100-inch, and 115-inch models. LG, on the other hand, has named its technology Micro RGB evo. The company claims it will offer TVs with this new technology in 75-inch, 86-inch, and 100-inch sizes.

What exactly is a Micro RGB TV?
While researching this technology, we found information on Samsung's website. According to Samsung, Micro RGB is a revolutionary TV display technology that displays 100% real colors on the screen. We also learned that it is a hybrid display that uses LEDs for both backlighting and color, but the image is created on an LCD screen.

While Mini LED TVs have been around for some time, Micro RGB takes the concept further by making the LEDs even smaller. The micro-sized LEDs make the display more power-efficient, and the smaller size allows for greater refinement in the display of red, green, and blue light. The advantage of this is that the picture on the screen looks more colorful and vibrant.

How is Micro RGB different from LED TVs?
As we mentioned earlier, Micro RGB is still based on LCD technology, but it is more advanced. It uses LEDs for backlighting on the LCD panel. In comparison, LED TVs do not have an LCD panel. They generate light at the pixel level to create the image. Experts are calling Micro RGB a hybrid display that is far superior to previous technologies.

Samsung has already launched its 115-inch Micro RGB TV. The company has priced this TV at $30,000. LG is expected to launch its Micro RGB evo TV during CES 2026.
