WhatsApp New Feature: WhatsApp is preparing to introduce another major change soon. This time, it is working on a Facebook-like 'cover photo' feature, allowing users to make their profiles more personal and unique. While previously, people were only able to express themselves through their profile photos, now they will be able to add cover images based on their mood, personality, or style.

WhatsApp's New Cover Photo Feature

According to reports, this feature is currently in beta testing. It could be released publicly in the coming months. Information website WABetaInfo says that the cover photo option will be available in the profile settings.

This feature will allow users to add a wide and large image above their profile photo, similar to Facebook, LinkedIn, or X (formerly Twitter). Users will be able to customize this cover photo according to their privacy settings, choosing whether it's visible to everyone, only contacts, or no one at all.

Testing Phase Begins for Beta Users

Currently, this feature is being tested for select users in the WhatsApp Android beta version. It will be rolled out to more users in the coming weeks. This feature already exists for WhatsApp Business profiles, but the company is now preparing to make it available to all users.

Another Example of Meta's Growing Influence

This change to WhatsApp indicates that Meta (WhatsApp's parent company) is gradually moving towards a unified experience across all its platforms. Meta plans to provide users with a similar visual and interface experience across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

WhatsApp is also tightening its grip on AI chatbots.

WhatsApp is increasingly concerned about the proliferation of AI assistants and chatbots on its platform. Meta is now blocking companies that were launching their AI bots on WhatsApp. This rule change has dealt a major blow to platforms like ChatGPT and Perplexity, which were reaching users through WhatsApp.
