A Highly Useful Feature Is Coming to WhatsApp; It Will End This Worry Forever

WhatsApp Feature: A new feature is arriving on WhatsApp to alleviate concerns regarding storage space. With its help, users will be able to delete status media files that are consuming excessive storage.

WhatsApp Feature: WhatsApp, one of the most widely used messaging platforms globally, continuously introduces new features. These enhancements improve not only the chatting experience but also the overall user experience of the app. In line with this, WhatsApp is currently working on yet another new feature, after which users will no longer need to worry about storage issues on their phones. With the help of this feature, users will be able to clear media directly from their Status updates, meaning they won’t have to delete chats, photos, or videos just to save space. This will make the process of freeing up storage space much easier.

How will this feature work?

Currently, WhatsApp features a “Manage Storage” section where users can see which chats, groups, and channels are occupying the most storage space. Users can then choose to delete unwanted files at their discretion. Now, Status updates are also being added to this section. This means that—just like with chats, groups, and channels—users will be able to see within the “Manage Storage” section if a particular user’s Status updates are consuming a significant amount of storage. If a Status video is taking up too much space, users will be able to delete that media immediately, rather than having to wait for the Status to expire automatically. This feature will prove extremely useful for those struggling with limited storage space on their phones.

When can this feature be expected to roll out?

The company is currently working on this feature, and it is still in the development stage. It has been spotted in WhatsApp’s Android beta version 2.26.20.6. Once testing is complete and work on the feature is finalized, the company may roll it out as part of an upcoming update.

A New Privacy Feature Is Also on the Way

Much like the storage management tool, WhatsApp is also working on a new feature focused on privacy. Set to roll out under the name “After Reading,” this feature will cause messages to disappear immediately after they have been read. When setting a timer, users will be able to select an option for messages to disappear immediately after the recipient has read them. Deadlines of 5 minutes, 1 hour, and 12 hours can also be set. If a message remains unread, it will automatically disappear after 24 hours. This feature will be distinct from the disappearing messages functionality already available on the platform.
