WhatsApp New Feature: WhatsApp is soon preparing to give its Channels feature a new and exciting look. According to reports, the messaging platform is working on interactive quizzes for Channels, which will allow admins to go beyond simply providing one-way updates and directly engage their followers.
New Feature Spotted in iOS and Android Beta
This new feature was recently spotted in the latest WhatsApp beta version for iOS via TestFlight. A similar tool was also seen in the Android beta some time ago. According to WABetaInfo, this feature is called Channel Quiz and is specifically designed for channel admins.
How is Channel Quiz Different from Polls?
Until now, polls were used in Channels, which are generally used to gauge people's opinions. But the purpose of quizzes is different. They are designed to test knowledge. Admins can post a question and add multiple answer options. Most importantly, the admin will have to select the correct answer before posting so that users understand that this is a knowledge-based question, not an opinion poll.
Quizzes will be even more fun with pictures
WhatsApp is not limiting this feature to just text. Admins will be able to add images with each answer option. This will make quizzes more visual, educational, and useful for branded content. As soon as a follower selects the correct answer, they will see a confetti animation on the screen, making the whole experience fun and game-like.
Admins will get insights into user responses
Channel Quiz will also allow admins to see how many people chose which option. This will help them better understand their audience's understanding and interests. However, privacy will be fully protected. If a follower is not saved in the admin's contact list, only limited information about them will be displayed. In many cases, only the profile picture will be visible, while the name and number will remain hidden.
WhatsApp Channels to face new competition
The arrival of the quiz feature indicates that WhatsApp wants to make its Channels more engaging. Platforms like Telegram and Instagram Broadcast Channels are already focusing on interactive tools. WhatsApp doesn't want to be left behind in this race. This feature could become an effective way for content creators, teachers, and brands to repeatedly engage their audience.
When will this feature be available to all users?
Currently, the Channel Quiz feature is in the testing phase on both iOS and Android beta versions. WhatsApp has not yet announced an official launch date. However, the fact that this feature is appearing on different platforms suggests that it may be rolled out to all users soon. In the future, WhatsApp Channels could become a platform not only for viewing content but also for playing and learning.
