5kg LPG Cylinder: Due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East, shortages of LPG cylinders have been observed in several parts of the country in recent days. In many locations, disruptions in cylinder supply have forced restaurants and *dhabas* (roadside eateries) to shut down, while domestic consumers are also unable to book cylinders on time, causing significant inconvenience to the public. Under these circumstances, individuals working away from home—particularly migrant laborers—are being hit the hardest and are facing severe kitchen-related difficulties. In such a situation, migrant laborers can opt for the 5-kilogram LPG cylinder. A key advantage is that this option requires minimal documentation.

What Documents Are Required for a 5kg LPG Cylinder?
If you are a migrant laborer and possess any government-issued identity card, you can visit an LPG distributor to register yourself. Upon registration, you can easily procure a 5-kilogram FTL (Free Trade LPG) cylinder. Amidst this current LPG crisis, the 5-kilogram Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinder has emerged as a crucial alternative for migrant laborers.

Daily Sales of 70,000 to 75,000 5kg FTL Cylinders
Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Petroleum, stated during an inter-ministerial briefing on Wednesday, "On average, 70,000 to 75,000 5kg FTL cylinders are sold daily. Currently, we are selling 65,000 5kg FTL cylinders. There is an adequate supply of 5kg FTL cylinders being maintained across the country." Furthermore, the Ministry of Petroleum clarified that the overall supply of LPG cylinders within the country is proceeding normally.

LPG Distributors Federation President Makes This Statement
Chandra Prakash, President of the All India LPG Distributors Federation, told NDTV, "My recommendation is that families residing in villages located within large cities should also be granted the facility of LPG cylinder refills every 25 days, as they have larger families and, consequently, higher LPG consumption. Currently, refills are provided every 25 days in urban areas, whereas in rural areas, LPG cylinders are refilled every 45 days."
