Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal has announced 12 specialized positions at his new neuroscience startup, Temple. The company is developing a unique wearable device for elite performance athletes that monitors brain activity and blood flow. Goyal shared this information on social media, where he stated that he is looking for engineers who are athletes themselves and take their fitness seriously.

Temple aims to create a head-worn device that tracks brain health using near-infrared spectroscopy. Goyal has described it as "the world's most important wearable" and has announced the launch of a waitlist soon. Those working at the company will have to wear the device they create and hate it until it's perfect.

These are the 12 positions being recruited.
Temple is recruiting for these specialized positions related to engineering and neuroscience. These positions are related to areas such as hardware, AI, brain-computer interfaces, and neural decoding.

Analog Systems Engineers and Electronics Design Engineers
Embedded Systems Engineers (low-level hardware bring-up, embedded signal and image processing, embedded AI)
Design and Validation Engineers (sensors, actuators, batteries, antennas, optics)
CMF Engineers and Adhesive Materials Engineers
Sensor Algorithm Engineers (Estimation Theory, Sensor Fusion)
Deep Learning Engineers (ML Model Development for Physiological Metrics)
Computational Neuroscientists
BCI Engineers (Real-time EEG/EMG Acquisition and Processing)
Neural Decoding Researchers (Brain Activity to Semantic Mapping)
Computer Vision Engineers (Facial Microexpressions, Subvocal Muscle Detection)
Neuroimaging ML Engineers (Multimodal Sensor Fusion)
Product Managers (who can work independently using Figma, without the assistance of a designer)

Qualifications and Conditions
Candidates must have extensive knowledge in engineering and neuroscience. They must be passionate about both their craft and their category. The company is building devices for elite athletes, so applicants must take fitness seriously. Body fat must be less than 16% for men and less than 26% for women.

If you're not yet at this level but commit to reaching it within three months, you can still apply. However, this goal must be achieved within the probation period. The company says they want to hire people who push their bodies to the extreme, not just perform.

This condition has been controversial on social media, as many believe it could exclude qualified candidates. However, Goyal believes it aligns with the company's mission.

How Much Will Deepinder Goyal Pay?
Official salary figures for these positions at Temple have not been publicly released. However, in India, similar positions, especially in Bengaluru/Gurugram, offer ₹10-20 lakh per annum for those with 0-5 years of experience. At senior level with more than 10 years of experience, it can be ₹20-45 lakh per annum or more.
