Who is a JAG officer?
According to reports, JAG officers are appointed as legal advisors in the Indian Army. These officers give opinions on legal matters related to the army, become part of the court martial process and settle disputes related to discipline. What should be the qualification?
If you want to become a JAG officer, then you must have a law degree i.e. LLB. There should be at least 50% marks in it. Apart from this, the name of the candidate should be registered with the Bar Council of India. Many times CLAT PG score is also sought for application. Talking about age, the age of the candidate for this post should be between 21 to 27 years. That is, young law students or new lawyers can make a great career in this field.
How is the selection process?
There is no written exam to become a JAG officer. Candidates are selected on the basis of SSB interview. In this interview, your personality, confidence, decision making ability and leadership skills are thoroughly examined. After this, the candidate undergoes a medical test to ensure that he meets the prescribed physical and mental standards of the army.
Salary and facilities
After becoming a JAG officer, the candidate is given the rank of commissioned officer. Their salary is fixed under Level 10, which starts from around Rs 56,100 and can go up to Rs 1,77,500 per month. Along with this, they are also given all the allowances, medical facilities and promotion opportunities available in the army.
