The Ministry of Home Affairs has changed the rules for BSF Constable recruitment. Now, 50 percent of the direct recruitment posts each year will be reserved for ex-Agniveers and 10 percent for ex-servicemen.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has amended the recruitment rules for Constables in the Border Security Force (BSF). Under these changes, 50 percent of the direct recruitment posts for Constable positions in the BSF will be reserved for ex-Agniveers every year. In addition, 10 per cent of the posts are reserved for ex-servicemen, giving ex-Agniveers better opportunities to get a job in the BSF. How many reservations are available for Agniveers in government jobs?
- The Government of India has provided recruitment opportunities for Agniveers in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). Under this, up to 50 per cent of the seats in the Border Security Force (BSF) Constable recruitment process have been reserved for Agniveers. This means that if Agniveers wish, they can be recruited after completing their 4-year tenure in the Indian Army, based on the quota provided by the government. In addition, up to 10 percent reservation has also been provided in the recruitment of other forces under the Central Armed Police Forces, such as the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
- The Uttar Pradesh government has also launched several employment opportunities and schemes for ex-Agniveers, as Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of youth joining the army. According to 2022 data, approximately 1.67 lakh youth joined the army. Considering this, up to 20 percent reservation has been provided for recruitment in security departments such as Uttar Pradesh Police Constable, Fireman, and PAC.
- The Haryana state government has also provided up to 20 percent reservation for ex-Agniveers in the state's police department recruitment. Along with this, a reservation of up to 10 percent has been provided in other departments such as Forest Guard, Jail Warden, Mining Guard, or any Group-C posts in government jobs.
- Uttarakhand is also among the states where the highest number of young people join the army. The Uttarakhand government has given a reservation of up to 10 percent to ex-Agniveers for recruitment to Group 'C' posts in its police department.
- Madhya Pradesh, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh have also announced at their respective levels that young people who have completed their service as Agniveers will be given priority in direct recruitment to the state police and other government departments. Along with this, age relaxation will also be given to the ex-Agniveers applying for these positions.
