WBSSC Recruitment 2025: The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) has extended the application deadline for Group C and Group D posts under the First State Level Selection Examination (Non-Teaching Staff), 2025. According to the notification, many candidates were unable to access the online portal due to persistent server issues. Officials stated that the portal was unavailable for at least two days during the publication of Class 11th and 12th results on November 7th and for two days after the release of Class 9th and 10th results on November 24th, leading to the decision to extend the deadline to ensure fair access for all applicants.
Recruitment for so many posts
For the 2025 recruitment cycle, the Commission has announced 2,989 vacancies in the Group C category and 5,488 vacancies for Group D posts. Candidates applying for Group D posts must have passed the secondary examination.
In accordance with Supreme Court directives, the Commission has barred all individuals identified as "tainted" in previous examinations from participating in the current selection process. The West Bengal Subordinate Services Selection Commission (WBSSC) has already published a list of these candidates, which includes 3,512 individuals. This includes 1,163 ineligible candidates under Group C and 2,349 under Group D. The Commission has emphasized strict adherence to these restrictions to maintain transparency in the recruitment process.
Eligibility Criteria and Age Limit
Educational qualifications vary by post: for Group D posts, candidates must have passed at least Class 8, while for Group C roles, a 10th pass is required for clerical posts and a graduate degree for librarian posts.
Applicants must be between 18 and 40 years of age as of January 1, 2025, with age relaxation for reserved category candidates as per state rules.
The application fee is Rs. 400 for General, OBC, and EWS categories and Rs. 150 for SC, ST, and PH candidates. Candidates are advised to check the post-wise eligibility criteria given in the official notification before applying.
