The Anganwadi recruitment process will soon begin in the Uttar Pradesh Child Development Services and Nutrition Department. This recruitment includes 7,952 Anganwadi workers and 61,254 Anganwadi assistants. Chief Secretary S.P. Goyal has ordered departmental officials to complete the entire recruitment process transparently, fairly, and within the stipulated timeframe. He said that a uniform recruitment timetable should be established in every district to ensure uniformity in the selection process and avoid delays at any stage.

Additional Chief Secretary for Women's Welfare, Leena Johri, stated that of the 7,952 Anganwadi worker posts, 2,123 are related to the pre-selection process, 306 are for new Anganwadi centers, and 5,523 have been created after mini Anganwadi workers were upgraded to primary workers. Of the 61,254 assistant posts, 38,994 have become vacant due to reasons such as retirement or death, and 22,260 have been created by converting mini Anganwadi centers into primary centers. This totals 69,206 new posts.
Recruitment Committees to be Formed in Districts
The Chief Secretary directed that a recruitment committee be formed in every district, headed by the District Magistrate (DM). This committee will monitor the recruitment process and ensure complete transparency. All districts have been ordered to schedule recruitment in advance so that all stages can be completed on time.
The "Saksham Anganwadi" scheme will gain momentum
The meeting was informed that 23,697 Anganwadi centers in the state are being developed as "Saksham Anganwadis." Under this scheme, each center will be equipped with facilities such as a nutrition garden, rainwater harvesting system, RO machine, LED screen, ECCE materials, wall painting, and minor civil works. The Chief Secretary urged that the buildings under construction under this project be completed expeditiously so that better facilities are available for children and women in every village.
