UPSC Recruitment 2026: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has invited applications for 16 vacant positions in various ministries and departments. This recruitment drive is being conducted under advertisement number 02/2026 issued by the Commission. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online between April 11, 2026, and May 1, 2026 (until 6:00 PM).
Recruitment for these positions
This recruitment drive will fill a total of 16 vacancies in the departments of the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Defense, and the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying. The post-wise vacancies are as follows:
1 Assistant Keeper position at the Anthropological Survey of India
7 Senior Store Officer Grade-II positions at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)
8 Livestock Officer positions at the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying

Assistant Keeper Position Details
The only Assistant Keeper position is reserved for the unreserved category, and Persons with Disabilities (PwBD) candidates can also apply.
Educational Qualification: For this position, a candidate must have a Master's degree in Anthropology and a Diploma in Museology from a recognized institution.
Experience: At least one year of experience in the conservation and maintenance of specimens in a museum is desirable.
Workplace: The selected candidate will be headquartered in Kolkata, although they will be required to work throughout India.
Responsibilities: The primary function of this position is to develop regional anthropological museums and conduct field studies in tribal areas.
Opportunities for Senior Stores Officer Grade-II
A total of 7 Senior Stores Officer Grade-II positions will be filled at DRDO Headquarters, New Delhi. Five positions are reserved for General, one for OBC, and one for SC categories. One position is also reserved for persons with disabilities (blindness/low vision). This position falls under the Level-10 pay scale (Gazetted, Ministerial).
Educational Qualification: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in a relevant discipline, such as Economics, Commerce, Statistics, Business Studies, or Public Administration. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline combined with a Diploma in Materials Management or Logistics is also acceptable.
Experience: Master's degree holders require 2 years of experience, and Bachelor's/Diploma holders require 4 years of experience.
Responsibilities: Candidates selected for this position will be responsible for tasks such as tender processing, vendor evaluation, and disposal of unused materials.
Livestock Officer Position Information
The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying will recruit 8 Livestock Officer positions, of which 4 positions are reserved for EWS, 1 for OBC, 2 for SC, and 1 for ST.
Educational Qualification: For this position, candidates must have a bachelor's degree in veterinary science and animal husbandry and registration with the Indian or State Veterinary Council.
Experience: At least 3 years of experience in livestock development, animal health, or related fields is required.
Responsibilities: This is a full-time clinical position, with private practice strictly prohibited. Selected candidates will be responsible for supporting government schemes, policy development, and coordinating with international organizations such as FAO and OIE.
Age Limit
The maximum age for applying for the Assistant Keeper position is 30 years, and for applying for the Senior Store Officer Grade-2 and Livestock Officer positions is 35 years. Age relaxation will also be provided to candidates from reserved categories.
Selection Process and Other Important Instructions
If the number of applications is high, UPSC will shortlist candidates based on higher educational qualifications, additional experience, or a recruitment test. The test is likely to be held in 15 major cities across the country, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bhopal, and Lucknow.
The interview will carry a total of 100 marks, with the minimum passing marks set at 50 for the general category, 45 for OBC, and 40 for SC/ST/PWD categories.
