What are the eligibility requirements for UPSC ESE?
To apply for the Engineering Services Examination, candidates must have a bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized university/institute/college. Furthermore, candidates must be at least 21 years old and not exceed 30 years of age as of January 1, 2026. This means that the candidate must not have been born before January 2, 1996, nor after January 1, 2005. However, reserved categories will receive age relaxation as per the rules.
How to Apply?
If you wish to participate in the UPSC ESE, you must first complete the registration process.
To do this, first visit the UPSC's official website, upsconline.nic.in.
Here, you must go to the Examination Notices section.
You will see the Engineering Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2026 heading on the second page. Next, you will find the option to view the notification. After reviewing the entire notification, if you are satisfied, proceed with registration.
Click on "New Registration" and complete the registration process with your basic details. Enter your valid email ID and mobile number.
Now log in to Part 2. Fill in the remaining required information.
Upload your passport-size photo and signature.
Upload ID proof, educational documents, photo, and signature in the correct size.
Select an exam center. Then pay the application fee.
Print out the final submitted form.
Application Fee
Candidates must pay an application fee of ₹200. However, women/SC/ST/PwBD candidates are exempted from this fee. These candidates can apply without any fee.
