The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has started the application process for the Detailed Application Form-II (DAF-II) for candidates who cleared the Civil Services Main Examination 2025. With the Main results now out, shortlisted candidates are eagerly awaiting the schedule for the personality test. Before the interview dates are announced, all qualified candidates must complete the DAF-II on the official UPSC portal.

DAF-II Mandatory for Interview

UPSC recently released the list of candidates who cleared the 2025 Main Examination—this year, a total of 2,736 candidates have qualified. These candidates are now eligible to appear for the personality test/interview, which is expected to take place in January 2026 at the UPSC office in New Delhi.

However, no candidate will be allowed to sit for the interview unless they successfully submit DAF-II with accurate information and valid documents. Since the interview schedule may be released anytime soon, timely submission of the form is crucial.

The DAF-II requires candidates to upload scanned copies of essential documents and verify all key details, such as personal information, category certificates, academic records, employment details (if applicable), and preference for services and cadres.

Fill DAF-II Carefully to Avoid Rejection

UPSC has issued an important advisory for all candidates. Any discrepancy between the information entered in DAF-II, earlier records submitted, or original documents can lead to:

  • Delays in candidature verification, or

  • Cancellation of candidature altogether.

Therefore, candidates are strongly advised to double-check all entries before submission. UPSC has also recommended avoiding last-minute submissions, as technical issues often arise closer to the deadline.

Candidates must ensure that:

  • All certificates are valid and updated

  • Details match their official records

  • Service and cadre preferences are carefully selected

  • Achievements and experience are documented accurately

Interview Schedule to Be Released Soon

The commission is expected to announce the interview dates soon on its official website. UPSC typically releases the list of interview batches along with the respective dates several weeks in advance. Once announced, candidates will be able to download their interview e-admit cards from the official portal.

As per current information, the UPSC CSE 2025 interviews will begin in January 2026 and will be conducted at the Dholpur House office in New Delhi. The e-summon letters will be available a few days before each candidate’s interview date.

Step-by-Step Guide to Fill UPSC DAF-II

Candidates can fill the form online by following these steps:

  1. Visit the official UPSC portal: upsconline.gov.in

  2. Log in using your Registration ID and password

  3. Verify all pre-filled personal details

  4. Enter preferences for services and cadres carefully

  5. Upload all required documents in the specified format

  6. Provide verifiable details of achievements, awards, or work experience

  7. Review each entry thoroughly

  8. Submit the form and download the PDF copy for future reference

Important Reminder

The DAF-II submission is the final stage of documentation before the Personality Test. Accuracy, consistency, and timely submission are essential. Any mismatch in details may affect a candidate’s chances of appearing for the interview.

As thousands of aspirants compete for limited vacancies in India’s premier civil services, filling the DAF-II correctly is as important as performing well in the Main examination.
