10 Major Changes in UPSC CAPF AC Recruitment 2026
Universal Registration Number: Candidates will receive a Universal Registration Number (URN) instead of a One-Time Registration (OTR). Once a candidate registers on the online application portal, a Universal Registration Number (URN) is generated, which is common for all the Commission's exams. After filling the exam-specific form, an application number is generated, which is exam-specific, and the applicant must retain it along with the URN for any future communication with the Commission. The URN needs to be registered only once in a lifetime. While the URN will be unique and remain the same, the application number will be dynamic and will vary for each exam.
No opportunity for correction: The Commission has now limited the opportunity for correction in the application form. There will be no opportunity to edit the application after final submission.
Live Photo: Applicants must upload their photo and capture a live photo while filling out the Common Application Form (CAF). Candidates cannot use old photos. Applicants must ensure that the uploaded photo and the captured live photo are clear and legible, as per the instructions provided in 'Instructions and FAQs > Form Filling Instructions > Photo and Signature' on the Commission's website: https://upsconline.nic.in.
Uploading Signature: Candidates must sign three times (one below the other) in black ink on plain white paper while filling out the Common Application Form (CAF) and upload it. The uploaded signature must be clear and legible.
Increased Number of Exam Centers: UPSC has increased the number of exam centers from 47 to 57. Ten new exam centers have been added in Delhi-NCR, Bhubaneswar, and Indore.
Face Authentication: From this time, UPSC exam centers will use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to authenticate candidates face-to-face. To ensure a secure and smooth exam process, all candidates will be required to complete face authentication at the exam venue.
Reporting Time: Candidates must arrive at the exam center at least 30 minutes in advance. Candidates are advised to arrive at the exam venue on time for face authentication/identity verification and frisking. Late entry into the exam venue will not be permitted under any circumstances.
Strictness in Height Requirements: The maximum height limit for male candidates is 165 cm, and for female candidates is 157 cm. The notification clearly states that heights will no longer be rounded off. Candidates under 164.9 cm will be disqualified.
Long Jump: During the physical standards test, if any part of a candidate's body touches the starting or finishing line, they will be disqualified.
Portal Name Change: The Commission has renamed the Public Disclosure Scheme to Pratibha Setu. Employment opportunities in the private and public sectors will be provided through the Pratibha Setu portal. Candidates who qualify for the UPSC interview round will be eligible for this portal after obtaining permission. Candidates' information will be shared only after obtaining permission.
The application process for the UPSC CAPF AC Recruitment 2026 began on February 20.
