UPSC Announces Recruitment for Delhi Government Schools; 828 Vacancies to be Filled

There are 828 vacant posts for Principals and Vice-Principals in Delhi government schools. Following the recruitment advertisement issued by the UPSC, the Delhi Directorate of Education has released details regarding these vacancies.

Delhi Government Schools: After teacher vacancies, a large number of vacancies for administrative posts in Delhi government schools have now come to light. There are 828 vacant posts for Principals and Vice-Principals. These positions will be filled through direct recruitment. The Delhi Directorate of Education provided information about these vacancies following the recruitment advertisement issued by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The Directorate of Education manages approximately 1,090 government schools in Delhi. Within these, there are 124 vacant posts for Principals and 704 for Vice-Principals. Direct recruitment for all 828 posts will be conducted through the UPSC.

Recruitment for 124 Principal and 704 Vice-Principal Posts

According to a circular issued by the Delhi Directorate of Education, there are 124 vacant posts for Principals and 704 for Vice-Principals available for direct recruitment, making a total of 828 vacancies across both categories. According to the Principal and Vice-Principal Government School Association, there are 950 sanctioned posts for Principals and 1,670 sanctioned posts for Vice-Principals in Delhi government schools. The application process for direct recruitment to these posts began on July 25, and interested candidates can apply until August 14.

50% of Posts Filled via UPSC

According to the association, 50 percent of the sanctioned posts for both Principals and Vice-Principals are to be filled through direct recruitment. The UPSC conducts recruitment for these posts, while the remaining 50 percent are filled through promotion. Out of the total 950 sanctioned posts for Principals, 475 are designated for direct recruitment. Of these, 124 posts are currently vacant; meanwhile, approximately 250 posts under the promotion quota have been filled, while around 225 posts are reported to be vacant.

Status of Vice Principal Posts

Out of the 1,670 sanctioned posts for Vice Principals, 835 are designated for direct recruitment. Of these, 704 posts are vacant and will now be filled through the UPSC. Meanwhile, approximately 400 posts under the promotion quota are currently being managed by ad-hoc Vice Principals. According to the association, there are still around 435 vacant posts within the promotion quota.
