UP TGT Recruitment: Major relief for candidates—those with less than 50% marks in graduation can now apply
The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has introduced a significant change in the educational qualification requirements for the recruitment of Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT) / Assistant Teachers in aided secondary schools.
UP TGT Recruitment: The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has provided major relief to lakhs of youths and B.Ed./D.El.Ed. candidates who aspire to become government teachers in Uttar Pradesh. The Commission has modified the educational qualification criteria for the recruitment of Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT) / Assistant Teachers in aided secondary schools. Under the new directive, the Commission has granted a complete exemption from the mandatory minimum marks requirement—such as 50% in graduation or 45% in post-graduation—to certain categories of candidates. This decision will particularly benefit those who were previously uncertain about their eligibility due to these minimum marks requirements.
Who is eligible for the exemption from the minimum marks requirement?
According to a notification issued by Dr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Deputy Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission, this exemption does not apply to all candidates; rather, it is subject to a specific timeframe. Candidates who enrolled in teacher-training programs—such as B.Ed., D.El.Ed., or a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education—on or before July 29, 2011, are granted this exemption. Consequently, such candidates will not be deemed ineligible solely on the grounds that their marks in graduation or post-graduation fall below the previously prescribed minimum percentage. They will be considered fully eligible for the TGT recruitment. The Commission has clarified that this exemption applies exclusively to the minimum marks requirement; all other mandatory educational and eligibility criteria for the recruitment must still be met.
