UP Teacher Vacancy 2026: Last date for online form submission is now November 4; find out who has been given a fresh opportunity..
UPESSC Notification 2026: There is significant and welcome news for the lakhs of candidates in Uttar Pradesh preparing to become Primary Assistant Teachers under the Basic and Secondary Education Departments. The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC), Prayagraj, has extended the deadline for online applications by one week. Consequently, interested candidates can now apply until November 4, 2026. Previously, the deadline was set for October 28, 2026. Furthermore, the UPESSC has provided a window until November 7, 2026, for candidates to correct any errors in their submitted application forms.
Why was the deadline extended?
The extension was not due to any technical glitch, but rather following a major ruling by the Allahabad High Court. On October 24, the High Court issued an order regarding a petition filed before it. Subsequently, on October 27, the Secondary Education Department of the UP Government issued directives to include two additional qualifications for the teacher recruitment process:
A 2-year diploma in Special Education.
Holders of a 2-year diploma in Special Education recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).
A 4-year B.El.Ed degree.
Candidates who have completed a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) program.
Previously, students holding these degrees or diplomas were unable to apply for this recruitment. Following the High Court's order, the government granted approval for their inclusion. As these candidates required time to complete their applications, the Commission extended the deadline to November 4.
Has the exam date also been postponed?
Sanjay Kumar Singh, Deputy Secretary of the Commission, has clarified that there has been no change to the date of the written examination. The exam will proceed as originally scheduled, taking place on December 3 and December 4, 2026.
